How to use the optimizer add-in

(be sure that you’ve downloaded and installed the add-in)

  • Open the presentation that you would like to be optimized
  • The size of the file appears on the right side of the “Home” tab of the ribbon
  • Click on the arrow to launch the optimizer
  • The add-in optimizes the size of the images. It can also convert charts and embedded objects to images to reduce file size (uncheck if you don’t want it)
  • Click “Optimize”
  • The optimizer then runs and displays an event window. The operations can take from a few seconds to about one minute (for large powerpoint file with hundreds of slides)
  • At the end of the process :
    • a windows displays the size of the original file, of the optimized file.
    • the optimized file is saved in the same directory as the original, with “(optim)” at the end of the name
